July is going by wayy too fast.
I'm so not ready to begin thinking of school starting.
Going to stores stresses me out because they already have school supplies out.
Could you give it a few weeks Walmart?
Geez.
The last thing I want to think about right now is school.
*sigh*
Anywho.
I cannot wait to show you the full Laundry Closet Reveal...
but I decided to start off by showing a little project I did for it.
Since our Laundry closet is in full view once you turn down the hall to the bedrooms
(and since I ripped those awful bifolds out)
I wanted it to not just be functional, but also be nice to look out.
Which was a big job if you saw the before picture.
This was a little project I did to add some 'pretty' to it :)
I found this great mirror at Goodwill for cheap.
It's really a hard plastic material rather than wood or metal but it worked just fine.
It wasn't incredibly pretty to begin with though...
Just a bronzey-gold color that looked too old-school for me :)
I painted it with the same color I used for part of the room (which you'll see soon!!).
It's called Krypton and I lovvvve it.
The perfect grey-blue.
After painting it, I took some glaze to it to bring out all the pretty detailing.
I also sanded it just a tad to let some of the original metal color show through.
I wanted it to have that vintage feel to it.
Then I did several coats of chalkboard paint right on top of the mirror.
Worked like a charm.
I thought forever about what to write on it...
just plain 'laundry' seemed too boring so why not take it to the next level?
Which is Italian. Duh.
I loved the Italian word for laundry...'lavanderia'.
It just rolls of the tongue...you know you want to say it :)
I added a little flourish under it for a little extra oomph.
I love all the detailing on it.
And every time I see 'lavanderia'...it makes having to do boring old American laundry seem that much more exciting :)
This was such a quick project.
Like, one afternoon type project.
The best kind :)
What do you think?
Rather do some 'lavanderia' than laundry?
Or does a snow cone sound better to you too??
Don't forget to check back in this week for the full Laundry Closet Reveal!!!
Can't wait to show you!!
