Happy Fourth Everyone!!!
Little man just keeps saying 'yay America' :)
And that makes me smile.
We're keeping it simple this year and having some good ole' fashioned BBQ and somehow going to see some fireworks (haven't decided where yet)
I hope everyone has a fantastic, sparkly Fourth of July!!!
I've been dying to show you my favorite piece of furniture as of so far.
You might have already glimpsed it if you took my hint and clicked on the 'store' button under my header.
But it's okay if you didn't cuz I'm going to show it to you anyway :)
I picked up this fantastic little desk at our Goodwill a couple of weeks ago in their clearance center.
I think I paid 15 big ones for it.
Totally worth every single dollar.
Isn't she lovely?
And the more I inspected her as I painted her, the lovelier she got.
Look at those details on the drawers...and on the sides...and all down those curvy legs.
Swoon.
And the hardware is just double swoon-worthy.
I have no doubt that this iconic little box was probably in the back of my head as I gleefully picked her colors out...
I mean...c'mon.
Swoon a million times over.
She had an okay coat of off-white on and a good smothering of laquer on her so she got a good sanding down and then I taped off her ribbon...er...stripe that would go down the middle of the desktop.
Then I gave her a gorgous coat of what I saw as a 'Tiffany Blue'.
Really...it's the same color we used in our guest bath- 'watery' by Sherwin Wiliams.
And it was gorgeous on her.
I accented the cut-outs on her drawers with Pottery Barn Cream and gave the original hardware a coat of silver.
One of the original pulls was missing so I replaced it with two pieces- a brass backer piece and an old knob from my stash.
They both looked perfect together after getting coated in silver as well.
I thought she looked absolutely stunning once she got all decked out.
And the stripe on the desktop looks just like a silky Tiffany ribbon running down.
Now if there were only a couple of Tiffany pieces of jewelry hiding inside...
The details on this piece are just exquisite.
I'm so in love with the detailing on the drawers...
And all down the sides...
And those legs just go on and on and on...
I'm quite in love with her...
but, alas, there is no room (or little girl) in our house...
so she can be found at the 'store' tab under my heading or on the Little Rock Craigslist.
Waiting for her perfect prince...
Oh wait. Getting fantasies mixed up :)
But any princess deserves a Tiffany Box, right?
One last before and after of the little doll...
What do you think?
Almost as pretty as a Tiffany Box?

ReplyDeleteWow!!! This is an incredible make-over. I love the ribbon accent on the top. It keeps a formal piece from being too formal and stiff. THe fun of it is great!
ReplyDeleteGood source of inspiration. Nothing better than a Tiffany box and that blue. Looks awesome and what a steal of a deal.
ReplyDeleteSaw you at A Little Knick Knack's linky party.
ReplyDeleteI love this desk, especially that blue Tiffany color. You nailed it!
I love your desk, and I adore that you are studying to be an OT. My son just loves his OT and I wish I would have gone into that instead of teaching...
ReplyDeleteIf you have a moment today, please share this with my readers @Creative Juice Thursday Hope to see yours among all the amazing projects!
Beautiful, love the color and the "ribbon" stripe. The only thing that would make it better was if the drawers were filled with jewelry, like the little boxes are. Thanks for sharing!

What a cool color! I love the stripe down the middle. With your Tiffany reference, I immediately thought of crystal knobs...but I think you did the right thing keeping the silver ones on. Looks fab!
