It's definitely been a Wednesday around here!
It's been a somewhat frustrating day trying to sell our little car.
Ugh.
Ugh.
I cant' wait to be done with it.
But I got to paint and hang with little man so it wasn't all bad!!
Recently, I had a friend that was working with one of her design clients and she snagged me eight pieces to do!
Eight!!
I've been busy getting them all done in between classes and have had a blast doing it.
The trio of aqua stools I shared earlier are part of that group of eight.
She also had two end tables that were fine and in good shape.
But she wanted them to be a lot lighter.
Here's one of them (they were identical):
Like I said, they were in really good shape- she just wanted to lighten them up.
She chose the same color as she had painted her trim- a custom mixed creamy off-white.
When they mixed it up for me, they named it "Hall Furniture White" which made me happy :)
It went on gorgeous and even though white doesn't seem like that big of a change.
I think it made all the difference for this piece.
Definitely let the lines pop.
Look at the gorgeous sides she has:
After painting, I glazed it with some antiquing glaze.
I adore the effect that glaze gives pieces.
This is really one of my all-time favorite, go-to finishes for a lot of my pieces.
And of course I had to stage her to show off how pretty she is :)
See the circle shadow in the above picture?
The front of my house was super bright and wasn't letting up.
Here's how the convo with hubby went:
Me: "Hey babe? I need your help outside for a minute"
Hubs: "What is it?"
Me: "Well the sun is too bright..."
Hubs (incredulous look on his face): "Well babe. I can do lots of things, but I can't make the sun move for you."
Me: "Ugh. No. I need you to shield it from the sun."
Hubs: "Shield, uh, what?"
Me: "The end table!! What else??"
Which led to him walking outside, shaking his head all the while, and holding up a children's plastic pool over my piece so I could get decent pictures.
Oh, the life of a blogger :)
You just couldn't see all the gorgeous detailing on it before.
It was so meant to be this color. Really.
Her twin looks just like it.
I left the original hardware on it and I love the pretty dark brass against it.
I finished it off with a layer of finishing wax which seals it to protect it and give it a nice, satin-y feel and look.
And one last look at how it went down:
Will I ever get tired of white paint furniture redos?
Probably not.
What do you think?
Do you love the finish as much as I do?
